Previously it was known as CA CPT (Common Proficiency Test) but after the introduction of new syllabus scheme the whole system and examination has been changed by Institute of Chartered Accountants of India through entire course now CA Foundation is the entrance exam of CA (Chartered Accountancy) course. CA Foundation exam is conducted by ICAI twice a year, in the following months:

  • May
  • November

First, a student must apply for the initial registration after that he or she can start their further studies.

CA Foundation Exam Date May, 2020

The examination dates has been issued by ICAI for this May, 2020 attempt that is May 11, 13, 15, and 17, 2020. The applications for admission to CA Foundation course will start on February 05, 2020 online at icaiexam.icai.org. CA Foundation Registration Form

You can register your CA Foundation with two methods, offline and online. In the offline method, you can contact your nearest ICAI branch. They will provide you with the form and other necessary information.

In the online method, (which is best) you just have to visit the ICAI website and fill the necessary information. Below, you can find the step by step guide to registering CA Foundation online.

Documents required for CA Foundation registration

Documents Required For CA Foundation Registration form are given by ICAI. Please read them carefully.

Please Note: Only scanned copy is accepted, the image captured from a mobile/camera or so will be rejected. The maximum size of an image is width:21 centimeters and length:27 centimeters. If the image conditions are not satisfied, then your application will be rejected.

  • 10th mark sheet
  • 12th marksheet/12th Appeared certificate/12th Admit Card (If you don’t have 12th mark sheet then attach your Admit card)
  • Degree mark sheet (if you have any)
  • Diploma mark sheet (if you have any)
  • Bonafide Certificate ( in case of Provisional registration)
  • Provisional Degree Certificate (if you have any)
  • Consolidated Degree Mark sheet (if you have any)
  • 1 latest passport size photo
  • School or college leaving certificate
  • Signature
  • Foreign/SAARC Nationality (If you are not foreign or SAARC Nationality, then leave this blank)

Eligibility for CA Foundation

One should clear his or her 12th standard as per Indian education system in any stream whether commerce, science, or arts, to eligible for CA entrance exam. And the student must secure the following marks in 12th class:

  • Commerce – minimum 50%
  • Arts – minimum 55%
  • Science – minimum 55%

A graduate or postgraduate student can also apply for registration and they are eligible. But they have an exception for CA Foundation exam. They can apply for direct entry scheme, it means they need not take the foundation exam. And before the introduction of the CA revised scheme graduated students have only entrance exam exception.

CA Foundation Registration Fees

(a) India national residing in India – Rs. 9200/-
(b) India national residing in SAARC Countries – Rs. 9200/-
(c) Indian National residing in a place other than above 2 points – US $720 (US $700 + US $20)
(d) Foreign National belonging to SAARC Countries – Rs.9200/-
(e) For other than stated in (d) above – US $720 (US $700 + US $20)

Details of course Fee for CA CPT / CA Foundation given by ICAI. Registration Fee Rs.9000/- for students stated in above points (a), (b), and (d); and US$720 for students stated in 15(c) and (e). Cost of Foundation Prospectus Rs. 200 for India/SAARC Students and for others US $20

If you want to subscribe for student’s journal which is issued by ICAI every month then:

  • Subscription for Student’s Journal Rs.200/- (for India/ SAARC Students) and for others US$20 (for one year) (Optional but strongly recommended)
  • Subscription for Member’s Journal Rs.400/- (for India/ SAARC Students) and for others US $40 (for one year) (Optional)

Before applying please review this information to make your registration successful in the first time

  1. New student means students who have never applied for any course in ICAI, and never ever received Student Registration Number starting with NRO/SRO/ERO/WRO/CRO New students can only apply for Foundation Course and Intermediate through Direct Entry route
  2. Existing student means a student who has applied for any course in ICAI and has received Student Registration Number starting with NRO/SRO/ERO/WRO/CRO
  3. Existing users will be verified by their Student Registration Number starting with NRO/SRO/ERO/WRO/CRO and birth date.
  4. Use your own email id and mobile number, future communication related to this portal will happen on them only.
  5. Once registered an OTP (one-time password) will be sent on your registered email id/mobile number. Enter this detail in User verification screen.
  6. Once registered, you will be allowed to apply for various courses.
  7. If OTP is not received immediately then do not panic, it may receive after some time. After some time, you need to log in again with your registered email id and password.  Once verified you will be diverted to OTP verification screen, now enter received OTP and submit. If not received then click “Resend New OTP” button, a new OTP will be sent on your registered email id/mobile number
  8. In your dashboard, list of the application form which you have applied will be displayed with status and form acknowledgment number. If you click on the acknowledgment number, the form submitted by you will be displayed (of which you can take printout and submit to ICAI Regional Office)
  9. If you receive error Maximum length Exceeded then please upload images of smaller size(kb)

CA Foundation registration May 2020 procedure

Step 1: First off, you need to visit the ICAI website to start registering CA Foundation process. Click here to visit. After visiting the page click on “Click Here” under the Foundation course.

Step 2: For sure you are a new student and applying to CA Foundation for the first time. Click on “New User Registration” (if you do not have).

Step 4: After that, enter the necessary information, like name, email, Aadhar number, and so on. Do not forget to verify your email and phone. You will receive an OTP on your email address and Phone number. Enter the OTP and hit submit. (If you don’t receive OTP please click on resend or check your email address and phone number)

Once you are successfully verified, you will get a success message on the top of the page. And after that click on login as shown in the below image.

Step 5: Enter your email, password, captcha, and click on “login”

Step 6: After login, it will lead you to a new page. Enter the necessary details and click on “SAVE” at the bottom of the page.

Documents required for this step:

  • 1 latest passport size photo
  • School or college leaving certificate
  • Signature
  • Foreign/SAARC Nationality (If you are not foreign or SAARC Nationality, then leave this blank)

Make sure all documents must be scanned, the documents taken through phone camera are not acceptable. ICAI will reject them. And make sure your information must be correct. Please double check it.

Step 7: After saving your all information as shown in the previous step then click on “Apply” in Foundation

Step 8: A new form will be open, please fill the necessary details and the form look like this (we hide the personal details due to security reasons but make sure your all details are correct)

Main points to fill this form

In 12th point, please enter your 10th marks, 12th marks (if you are waiting for your result then mark it “Awaiting” on the right side), and enter your diploma and degree marks (if you do not have any diploma or degree, then leave it blank)

In 13th point, enter your parent’s annual income

In 14th point, if you are an old student like you want to switch from CPT to Foundation, then enter your registration number otherwise leave this blank

In 15th point, choose your category according to your region

In 16th point, if you want to monthly student journal then choose one according to your region otherwise leave this blank

Documents required for this form

  • 10th mark sheet
  • 12th marksheet/12th Appeared certificate/12th Admit Card (If you don’t have 12th mark sheet then attach your Admit card)
  • Degree mark sheet (if you have any)

At last please double check your information and click on “SAVE AND PAY” at the bottom of the page.

Step 9: You will lead to the payment gateway where you can pay your registration fees. Choose which one you like and pay. ICAI will confirm your receipt in 2 days.

Detailed information about online registration payment given by ICAI

  • Always verify details entered before clicking on “Save and Pay” button, once clicked you will be diverted to payment gateway screen.
  • Enter payment gateway details and then proceed for payment(Here do not refresh or go back to the last page). After payment is done you will be diverted to screen where details of your form will be displayed.
  • After payment is done, we will confirm receipt of payment only after payment is received in our bank account (this may take 2-4 working days)
  • The status of your payment will be displayed as “Payment not verified/confirmed” else transaction details (amount, bank txn number, etc) of payment will be displayed.
  • In case even after 2-4 days, the status of your application is displayed as “Payment not verified/confirmed”, then confirm with your bank first and then contact ICAI.

CA Foundation Exam Form:

A student must need to fill the examination form in order to get the roll number, it is mandatory for all students. After filling this form your roll number will be generated, which is actually provided by ICAI on a certain date (before 15 – 25 days of exams).

The CA foundation registration is valid for 6 attempts (3 years) but you need to fill the exam form every time.
